A simple CSS parser and inliner in Golang.

Parser is vaguely inspired by [CSS Syntax Module Level 3](http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-syntax) and [corresponding JS parser](https://github.com/tabatkins/parse-css).

Inliner only parses CSS defined in HTML document, it *DOES NOT* fetch external stylesheets (for now).

Inliner inserts additional attributes when possible, for example:

The `bgcolor` attribute is inserted, in addition to the inlined `background-color` style.

### Email for humans
The ```email``` package is designed to be simple to use, but flexible enough so as not to be restrictive. The goal is to provide an *email interface for humans*.

The ```email``` package currently supports the following:

*  Email addresses in both "test@example.com" and "First Last &lt;test@example.com&gt;" format

### Email verification Lookup

Use `CheckSMTP` to performs an email verification lookup via SMTP.

If you want to disable catchAll checking, use the `DisableCatchAllCheck()` switch (in effect only when SMTP verification is enabled).

> Note: because most of the ISPs block outgoing SMTP requests through port 25 to prevent email spamming, the module will not perform SMTP checking by default. You can initialize the verifier with  `EnableSMTPCheck()`  to enable such capability if port 25 is usable, 
> or use a socks proxy to connect over SMTP

### Use a SOCKS5 proxy to verify email 

Support setting a SOCKS5 proxy to verify the email, proxyURI should be in the format: `socks5://user:password@127.0.0.1:1080?timeout=5s`

The protocol could be socks5, socks4 and socks4a.

To check if an email domain is disposable via `IsDisposable`

> Note: It is possible to automatically update the disposable domains daily by initializing verifier with `EnableAutoUpdateDisposable()`

### Suggestions for domain typo

Will check for typos in an email domain in addition to evaluating its validity. 
If we detect a possible typo, you will find a non-empty "suggestion" field in the validation result containing what we believe to be the correct domain.
Also, you can use the `SuggestDomain()` method alone to check the domain for possible misspellings

## API 

We provide a simple **self-hosted** [API server](https://github.com/AfterShip/email-verifier/tree/main/cmd/apiserver) script for reference.

The API interface is very simple. All you need to do is to send a GET request with the following URL.

The `email` parameter would be the target email you want to verify.

## FAQ

#### The library hangs/takes a long time after 30 seconds when performing email verification lookup via SMTP

Most ISPs block outgoing SMTP requests through port 25 to prevent email spamming. `email-verifier` needs to have this port open to make a connection to the email's SMTP server. With the port being blocked, it is not possible to perform such checking, and it will instead hang until timeout error. Unfortunately, there is no easy workaround for this issue.

#### The output shows `"connection refused"` in the `smtp.error` field.

This error can also be due to SMTP ports being blocked by the ISP, see the above answer.

#### What does reachable: "unknown" means

This means that the server does not allow real-time verification of an email right now, or the email provider is a catch-all email server.

To add own validator, just implement [ev.Validator](pkg/ev/validator.go) interface. For validator without dependencies, you can use structure ev.AValidatorWithoutDeps

The main idea of this library was to provide a simple interface for sending mails to
my [JS-Mailer](https://github.com/wneessen/js-mailer) project. It quickly evolved into a full-fledged mail library.

go-mail follows idiomatic Go style and best practice. It has a small dependency footprint by mainly relying on the
Go Standard Library and the Go extended packages. It combines a lot of functionality from the standard library to 
give easy and convenient access to mail and SMTP related tasks.

In the early days, parts of this library (especially some parts of [msgwriter.go](msgwriter.go)) had been 
forked/ported from [go-mail/mail](https://github.com/go-mail/mail) and respectively [go-gomail/gomail](https://github.com/go-gomail/gomail). Today
most of the ported code has been refactored.

The `smtp` package of go-mail has been forked from the original Go stdlib's `net/smtp` package and has then been extended 
by the go-mail team to fit the packages needs (more SMTP Auth methods, logging, concurrency-safety, etc.).

go-mail works like a programatic email client and provides lots of methods and functionalities you would consider
standard in a MUA.

## Compatibility

Go is growing fast and providing great features with every new release. While we'd love to adopt the latest Go features
into our code, we realize that not everybody using this package can run the latest Go versions. Therefore we try to
implement alternative solutions for Go versions that do not support these features. Yet, the work needed to maintain
the separate versions is not to be underestimated. For that reason, we might retire that code at some point. 
We guarantee that go-mail will always support the last four releases of Go. With two Go releases per year, this gives
the user a timeframe of two years to update to the next or even the latest version of Go.

## Middleware
The goal of go-mail is to keep it free from 3rd party dependencies and only focus on things a mail library should

alter a given mail message to their needs without relying on `go-mail` to support their specific need.

To get our users started with message middleware, we've created a collection of useful middlewares. It can be

Hermes is the Go port of the great [mailgen](https://github.com/eladnava/mailgen) engine for Node.js. Check their work, it's awesome!
It's a package that generates clean, responsive HTML e-mails for sending transactional e-mails (welcome e-mails, reset password e-mails, receipt e-mails and so on), and associated plain text fallback.

First install the package:

Optionaly you can set the following variables to send automatically the emails to one your mailbox. Nice for testing template in real email clients.

* `HERMES_SMTP_PORT=<smtp_port>` : for Gmail it's `465`

* `HERMES_SMTP_USER=<smtp user>` : usually the same than `HERMES_SENDER_EMAIL`
* `HERMES_TO=<recipients emails>`: split by commas like `myadress@test.com,somethingelse@gmail.com`

The program will ask for your SMTP password. If needed, you can set it with `HERMES_SMTP_PASSWORD` variable (but be careful where you put this information !)

## Plaintext E-mails

To generate a [plaintext version of the e-mail](https://litmus.com/blog/best-practices-for-plain-text-emails-a-look-at-why-theyre-important), simply call `GeneratePlainText` function:

To customize the e-mail's greeting ("Hi") or signature ("Yours truly"), supply custom strings within the e-mail's `Body`:

To use a custom title string rather than a greeting/name introduction, provide it instead of `Name`:

To customize the `Copyright`, override it when initializing `Hermes` within your `Product` as follows:

To use a custom fallback text at the end of the email, change the `TroubleText` field of the `hermes.Product` struct. The default value is `If you’re having trouble with the button '{ACTION}', copy and paste the URL below into your web browser.`. The `{ACTION}` placeholder will be replaced with the corresponding text of the supplied action button:

Since `v2.1.0`, Hermes is automatically inlining all CSS to improve compatibility with email clients, thanks to [Premailer](https://github.com/vanng822/go-premailer/premailer).
You can disable this feature by setting `DisableCSSInlining` of `Hermes` struct to `true`.

To inject an action button in to the e-mail, supply the `Actions` object as follows:

## Troubleshooting

1. After sending multiple e-mails to the same Gmail / Inbox address, they become grouped and truncated since they contain similar text, breaking the responsive e-mail layout.

> Simply sending the `X-Entity-Ref-ID` header with your e-mails will prevent grouping / truncation.

Maddy Mail Server implements all functionality required to run a e-mail
server. It can send messages via SMTP (works as MTA), accept messages via SMTP

## Using Templates

Templates enable you to create message templates on your Mailgun account and then populate the data variables at send-time. This allows you to have your layout and design managed on the server and handle the data on the client. The template variables are added as a JSON stringified `X-Mailgun-Variables` header. For example, if you have a template to send a password reset link, you could do the following:

European customers will need to change the default API Base to access your domains

## Installation

If you are using [golang modules](https://github.com/golang/go/wiki/Modules) make sure you
include the `/v4` at the end of your import paths

$ go get github.com/mailgun/mailgun-go/v4
```

If you are **not** using golang modules, you can drop the `/v4` at the end of the import path.
As long as you are using the latest 1.10 or 1.11 golang release, import paths that end in `/v4`
in your code should work fine even if you do not have golang modules enabled for your project.

**NOTE for go dep users**

Using version 3 of the mailgun-go library with go dep currently results in the following error

This is a known bug in go dep. You can follow the PR to fix this bug [here](https://github.com/golang/dep/pull/1963)
Until this bug is fixed, the best way to use version 3 of the mailgun-go library is to use the golang community
supported [golang modules](https://github.com/golang/go/wiki/Modules).

## Testing

*WARNING* - running the tests will cost you money!

To run the tests various environment variables must be set. These are:

* `MG_DOMAIN` is the domain name - this is a value registered in the Mailgun admin interface.
* `MG_PUBLIC_API_KEY` is the Public Validation API key - you can get this value from the Mailgun [security page](https://app.mailgun.com/app/account/security)
* `MG_API_KEY` is the Private API key - you can get this value from the Mailgun [security page](https://app.mailgun.com/app/account/security)
* `MG_EMAIL_TO` is the email address used in various sending tests.

and finally

* `MG_SPEND_MONEY` if this value is set the part of the test that use the API to actually send email will be run - be aware *this will count on your quota* and *this _will_ cost you money*.

#### sendmail

[mhsendmail](https://github.com/mailhog/mhsendmail) is a sendmail replacement for MailHog.

It redirects mail to MailHog using SMTP.

You can also use `MailHog sendmail ...` instead of the separate mhsendmail binary.

Alternatively, you can use your native `sendmail` command by providing `-S`, for example:

For example, in PHP you could add either of these lines to `php.ini`:

## Installation

The Mailpit web UI listens by default on `http://0.0.0.0:8025` and the SMTP port on `0.0.0.0:1025`.

Mailpit runs as a single binary and can be installed in different ways:


### Install via package managers

- **Mac**: `brew install mailpit` (to run automatically in the background: `brew services start mailpit`)
- **Arch Linux**: available in the AUR as `mailpit`
- **FreeBSD**: `pkg install mailpit`


### Install via bash script (Linux & Mac)

Linux & Mac users can install it directly to `/usr/local/bin/mailpit` with:

sudo bash < <(curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/axllent/mailpit/develop/install.sh)
```


### Download static binary (Windows, Linux and Mac)

Static binaries can always be found on the [releases](https://github.com/axllent/mailpit/releases/latest). The `mailpit` binary can be extracted and copied to your `$PATH`, or simply run as `./mailpit`.

## Usage

Run `mailpit -h` to see options. More information can be seen in [the docs](https://mailpit.axllent.org/docs/configuration/runtime-options/).

If installed using homebrew, you may run `brew services start mailpit` to always run mailpit automatically.

### Configuring sendmail

Mailpit's SMTP server (default on port 1025), so you will likely need to configure your sending application to deliver mail via that port. 
A common MTA (Mail Transfer Agent) that delivers system emails to an SMTP server is `sendmail`, used by many applications, including PHP. 
Mailpit can also act as substitute for sendmail. For instructions on how to set this up, please refer to the [sendmail documentation](https://mailpit.axllent.org/docs/install/sendmail/).

## Prerequisites

- The Twilio SendGrid service, starting at the [free level](https://sendgrid.com/free?source=sendgrid-go), to send up to 40,000 emails for the first 30 days, then send 100 emails/day free forever or check out [our pricing](https://sendgrid.com/pricing?source=sendgrid-go).

## Setup Environment Variables

`github.com/mailhog/smtp` implements an SMTP server state machine.

It attempts to encapsulate as much of the SMTP protocol (plus its extensions) as possible
without compromising configurability or requiring specific backend implementations.

  * ESMTP server implementing [RFC5321](http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5321)
  * Support for:
    * AUTH [RFC4954](http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4954)
    * PIPELINING [RFC2920](http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2920)
    * STARTTLS [RFC3207](http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3207)

### Commands and replies

Interaction with the state machine is via:
* the `Parse` function
* the `ProcessCommand` and `ProcessData` functions

You can mix the use of all three functions as necessary.

#### Parse

`Parse` should be used on a raw text stream. It looks for an end of line (`\r\n`), and if found, processes a single command. Any unprocessed data is returned.

If any unprocessed data is returned, `Parse` should be
called again to process then next command.

#### ProcessCommand and ProcessData

`ProcessCommand` should be used for an already parsed command (i.e., a complete
SMTP "line" excluding the line ending).

`ProcessData` should be used if the protocol is in `DATA` state.
